Lumpy Mailers and Custom Campaigns to Cut Through The Noise Special Project Example: One Wheel Marketing One Day Build Game

We’ve all gotten that attention-getting flyer in the mail, even our Minneapolis marketing company has. You know, like the one with the key that may possibly start a brand new car at the local car dealership. 99% of your brain says, “Not gonna happen” while the remaining 1% asks, “Am I the lucky one?” But what happens in the next 4 seconds helps us understand the difference between a gimmick and an effective marketing strategy because most of us won’t give it another thought as we toss it in the trash.

You may have already considered shaking up your marketing strategy by adding local SEO, starting a blog, or kicking off an ad campaign, but sometimes an attention-grabbing campaign can be just what your potential customers need to hear, see or touch. Here’s an example of a special project that was extra special to us.

Last year, our One Wheel team set out to dabble in a creative strategy that was both new and fun: creating a board game! While we aren’t new to games (check out our friends at Boss Toss) we were new to the start-to-finish production of our own game. Taken from our real life service of One Day Website Builds, we wrote, designed, play-tested, and produced a game that would get coworkers and companies laughing and playing together while building their own imaginary website. With fun characters, common awkward office experiences, and that familiar race to the deadline, the One Day Build Game brings a little light-hearted fun to your workplace.

The One Day Build Game gave us, as a company, the opportunity to flex our talents and our creativity. Thinking through an entire strategy game, writing copy for each card, designing custom graphics that stayed on brand, and resourcing the production was a comprehensive project that incorporated every aspect of our business. And at the end of the day, the best part is handing them over to our clients. This custom branded item not only gives our clients the chance to connect through fun, it gives them a unique insight into our services and products.

A special project of this type might be just what you need to get understanding into your customers’ hands. Giving them something they can see and do is the best way to help them understand the value of what you offer them. And that understanding can lead to sales rather than a trashed gimmick.

If you aren’t sure whether your newest idea is a strategy or a gimmick, shoot us an email to talk about how to hone in the purpose, custom brand your idea, and bring value to you and your customers.
